The Fifth Grade Team Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. We are continuing "the Path to Excellence" this school year as we work to increase students' achievement. The fifth grade teaching team includes Mrs. Barbara Hinrichs, Mrs. Mary McCrossan, Mrs. Debbie Peterson, and Mr. Roger Riesgraf. Our three fifth grade classrooms are well established and provide for a positive learning environment. Each fifth grade classroom has a Smartboard and incorporates interactive lessons that directly involve student participation and learning.  The Workshop model of  teaching is consistent throughout the fifth grade and provides students lesson time, work time with direct instruction, and a closing to connect the day's learning to their everyday lives. Update 8/28/09 Fifth Grade State Tests In Fifth grade, we administered the MCA test. The MCA test evaluates the students' progress on the Minnesota Graduation Standards. The students will take this test in mid April. Our curriculum incorporates test taking strategies and skills to prepare students for these tests.  Each day, students need to come to school prepared to learn and work to make the academic gains for which we strive. We wish them well.
