NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

Frost Lake is pleased to welcome several new staff members for the 2008-2009 school year!  Ms. Cathy Burrell will be the new ELL collaboration teacher for 1st grade, replacing Ms. JoAnn Sajevic, who retired in June.  Ms. Melanie Lovell, who has substituted frequently at Frost Lake over the past 3 years, now joins the 2nd grade team, replacing Ms. Patricia Moudry, who resigned in June.  We welcome Ms. Chivouayi Lo, who is replacing Ms. Chris Peterson as the 3rd grade ELL collaboration

At the January 15th School Board Meeting, Frost Lake once again received the Superintendent's Banner for Continuous Academic Achievement. At the meeting, I accepted the Banner on behalf of the many Frost Lake staff members who tirelessly give of themselves on behalf of our students. During this time of accountability for standardized State MCA II test scores, recognition of other equally important measures is important, for a more balanced perspective of student achievement. Last night, Frost Lake was recognized for the seventh time, in the past nine years, as a recipient of the Superintendent's Banner. This is a noteworthy accomplishment, of which I am very proud. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is a measurement determined by the State that all schools must adhere to, or be placed on the AYP list. This year, Frost Lake is on an AYP warning list. Our spring MCA II test results will be very important for our school's status with the State. We need all students to try their very hardest to do their very best on these tests. We need and appreciate the support of all parents to encourage their children to do so on the 'high stakes' tests. ... SEEING IS BELIEVING... A recent Book of the Month

The Children's Theatre Company offers 6 "pay what you can" performances! The pay what you can program is designed to make theater available to children and families for whom ticket prices have previously been a financial barrier.  Households are allowed up to 6 seats per title and 12 seats per season, and may attend the performance for as little as $1 per ticket.  Tickets, which go on sale at 10:00 am one week before each performance, may be purchased in person at The Children's Theatre Company ticket office (2400 3rd Avenue S, Minneapolis  55404), or by calling 612-874-0400.  Remaining performances for this season are:
